  Full story of Rani Padmavati

If we want to know about history we have two source one is archaeological and another one is literary. Padmavat an epic poem written by Malik Muhammad Jayasi.


Alauddin khilji was sultan of Delhi. After possession on Delhi, his eye were on small estates near by Delhi. Chittorgarh was one of them which was ruled by king Rawal Ratan Singh at that time.



Padmavati was beautiful princess of the Singhal Kingdom (Sri Lanka). Maharaja Ratan Singh won her hand in marriage and brought her to Chittorgarh.


Allauddin Khilji heard about the beauty of Rani Padmavati so he wanted rani Padmavati to be his queen but Khilji also knew about the bravery of Rajputs. He didn't have courage for direct attack on Mewar so he sent Proposal for peace agreement with Mewar. 

He came in Mewar for agreement and while returning when Ratan Singh came out of his fort to send off Khilji, Allauddin Khilji captured him by cheat and brought him in his camp and demanded for Rani Padmavati in exchange of Ratan Singh release.


Great warriors of Rajputana, Gora and his nephew Badal with 700 Rajput warriors attacked on Khilji's Camp of 70000 men and manage to release his king but all warriors got martyred (shahid).

After this defeat Allaudin Khilji felt very bad and he attacked on Chittorgarh with his full power. When Rani Padmavati came to know, she decided to take Jauhar by jumping in fire pit with 16000 Rajput women. She chose Jauhar because she didn't want someone to touch even her dead body.
