     Boiler Mountings and Accessories

 
Boiler is a closed vessel in which desired amount of steam is generated from water.

Mountings
Valves and fittings are required for the safe and proper working of Boiler are known as Boiler Mountings.

1. Safety Valve
If Boiler temperature and pressure increased above desired limit then safety valve automatically release steam to control Boiler Pressure.

2. Steam Stop Valve
Regulate flow of steam either it is from Boiler to steam pipe or from one pipe to another pipe.

3. Feed Check Valve
Control supply of water into the boiler and prevent back flow of water from Boiler.

4. Fusible Plug
If water level inside the boiler reduced from the top of the fusible plug then fusible metal melts to extinguish combustion inside the boiler.

5. Pressure Gauge
To read pressure inside the boiler.

6. Water Level Indicator
To indicate level of water inside boiler.

7. Blow off Valve
Mounted at the lowest part of boiler and used to empty the boiler or to clean sediment and mud of the boiler.

8. Air Release Cock
To release air from boiler during water feeding to boiler or during rising steam inside the boiler.

9. Water Sampling Valve
To collect water sample feeded to the boiler for inspection and future reference.

10. Man Hole 
Large opening in the boiler through which a man can enter inside the boiler for inspection.

11. Low water level Alarm
If level of water inside the boiler get low alarm  ring to drag attention of Operator.

12. Shoot Blower
To clean sediment or combustion product layer from boiler tube with blowing action.

Accessories
The devices which increase boiler efficiency is known as boiler accessories.

1. Air Preheater
Flue gas which is going out through chimney is used to heat air which is coming inside to support combustion in the boiler.

2. Economizer
Flue gas which is going out through chimney is used to heat water which is feeding to the boiler for Boiling Operation.

3. Reheater
Steam which is expended from High Pressure Turbine is again heated and expand in Low Pressure Turbine.

4. superheater
Temperature and pressure of steam exceeded above saturated temperature and pressure by Radial or Convective or Externally Fired action.

5. Injector
Used to deliver water to the boiler against its own pressure using its own exhaust steam replacing any mechanical pump.

6. Feed Water Pump
Specific type of pump used to pump feed water into Boiler.
